European Heritage Days began in France in 1984 and has since grown into the largest public cultural event across over 50 European countries. Every September, tens of thousands of historic buildings, government institutions, and private estates that are normally closed to the public open their doors free of charge, offering every citizen the chance to step into the depths of history, touch Europe's shared cultural memory, and experience a human resonance that transcends national borders.
