Assumption of Mary

The Feast of the Assumption is one of the most important Marian feasts in the Catholic Church, celebrated annually on August 15. It commemorates the mystery of the Blessed Virgin Mary being taken up into heaven, body and soul, at the end of her earthly life. This doctrine was solemnly defined as a dogma by Pope Pius XII in 1950.
